Shapewatch is set to take part in this year's ActiveLab
Shapewatch's 3D body visualisation system has been recognised as one of the leading start-ups in fit-tech, having been selected for the 2019 ActiveLab accelerator programme.

Now in its third year, ActiveLab is the only accelerator programme in the world that is designed to support fit-tech start-ups aiming to transform public health, by engaging more people in physical activity and sport.

Shapewatch is an innovative 3D body scanner and visualisation tool which allows users to scan their bodies, monitor key biometrics and see their body shapes in 3D for true transformation. The company fought off fierce competition from over 70 applicants across 14 countries and six continents to secure a place on the global accelerator programme.

In October, the UK's secretary of state for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock, announced his tech vision for health – using emerging tech to transform services and health outcomes across the world.

ActiveLab 2019 programme addresses physical activity at all stages of life, through five categories: children and families, workplace wellness, active ageing and long-term conditions, re-imagining health, fitness and leisure facilities, and improving customer experience.

Shapewatch will undergo a 12-week programme of workshops, networking and insight, including mentoring from two titans of the private sector, Life Fitness and Jonas Software, with experts sharing their experience of scaling tech start-ups internationally in the market.

Former ukactive CEO, Steven Ward said: “To overturn the growing physical inactivity crisis facing our world, we need real innovative solutions. Shapewatch is a fantastic example of one of the pioneering start-ups that will revolutionise the way we move and help us build physical activity into our lives.”

Life Fitness director of Customer Solutions, Digital Ventures Group, Leon Rudge said: “As the world’s largest fitness solutions brand, we are passionate about discovering new and innovative ways in which to engage people in exercise. By partnering with ActiveLab, we can share our knowledge and experiences to support new innovators and we’re really excited to see what solutions this year’s programme uncovers.”

Jonas business unit manager Tom Withers said: “We’re excited to be part of ActiveLab this year, and support the next generation of FitTech businesses in the physical activity sector. Technology is rapidly changing the face of our sector, and these businesses represent the opportunity FitTech presents with huge amounts of value to the physical activity sector.”

Shapewatch sales director Alan Louden said: “Quantitative measurement and self-tracking are changing the ways in which we can know ourselves today. It can provide information that allows us to connect behaviours to health outcomes. Shapewatch enables users to accurately and consistently track key biometrics essential to overall fitness and health – visualising one’s health data in 3D with personalised, customisable avatars.

With this data and its Dynamic Movement Assessment, Shapewatch offers valuable applications for pre-habilitation, rehabilitation, wellness and performance. By reimagining what we can learn from our health, fitness and leisure activities, we can improve the quality of our lives. We are honoured to be part of this year’s ActiveLab."
