SHOKK forge exciting partnership with Great Ormond Street

Supplier: SHOKK Projects Ltd

More SHOKK Projects Ltd details
SHOKK The Youth Activity People are proud to announce Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) as one of the latest customers to invest in their market leading Multiplayer Dancemat system.

GOSH provide inspirational and world class care to hundreds of children every day, providing the support and encouragement to make a real difference to all patients and their families' lives.

The SHOKK concept is designed to create a healthier and more balanced lifestyle for young people and has been developed through 10 years of extensive research, providing a range of interactive products, which encourage young people to get active in a fun and entertaining way.

In partnership with the UCL Institute of Child Health, Great Ormond Street is the largest centre for research and postgraduate teaching in children's health in Europe.

Using the most up-to-date technology, the investment in the SHOKK Dancemat System was chosen as an alternative way for children and young people who currently stay at and visit the hospital to benefit from another form of exercise through interactivity and dance. Specifically designed to engage and challenge all young people regardless of age or ability, getting users exercising without them even realising it.

This is great timing with the addition of Dr. Lee Graves at SHOKK and the knowledge transfer partnership with Liverpool John Moores University and the DOH (Department of Health). Our aim is to improve the rehabilitation process, gain valuable research that can build and further shape our session planning for inclusiveness and provide a fun and engaging experience for young people who not so privileged.

Forging this new partnership will also see GOSH working with Dr Lee Graves, Head of Research and Development at SHOKK, who is one of the leading researchers in the UK in the area of interactive gaming. The aim will be to work together to improve the rehabilitation process, gain valuable research that can build and further shape our session planning for inclusiveness and provide a fun and engaging experience for young people not so privileged. The current benefits include:

• Positive influence on behaviour
• Provides your heart with moderate aerobic exercise
• Improve flexibility and motor controls
• Engage in social activity
