LED based lighting from Royal Philips Electronics has helped contribute to an overall reduction in energy consumption on Radiohead's latest tour.
The company's Color® Reach Powercore product was used, which has the capability to project up to 5000 lumens of light over a distance of 500ft.
Five of the Color Reach modules were specified for the South American leg of the In Rainbows tour and were fitted to the front truss of the stage.
Andi Watson, creative director for the "In Rainbows" tour, says: "Having put the LED equipment through its paces we were convinced it was the right way to go. To be honest, not having a single discharge or incandescent lamp in the design has set a new benchmark for us."
The technology was also given its UK debut when the band played at the Reading and Leeds Festival.
