Cast's BlackTrax lights up Cirque du Soleil Varekai show

Supplier: Cast Group

More Cast Group details
Cast's BlackTrax tracking solution is being used to light up the performers of the the Cirque du Soleil’s Varekai arena show.

The software technology uses an infra-red sensor and a LED beacon attached to a performer giving positional information for X, Y, and Z coordinates.

At each venue, BlackTrax is being used as a way of calibrating the moving lighting to track performers on the stage area.

Show lighting designer, Nol van Genuchten said: “With BlackTrax, I had a lot more freedom to create and place highlights on performers within the imagery and doing so in a way that I couldn’t have done with a traditional follow spot.”
